I still remember the first time someone looked us in the eye after we handed them a clean set of clothes and some basic essentials. They didn’t say much. They didn’t have to. You could feel the weight lift, just a little. That moment has stayed with me, because it reminded me why Birch Foundation exists.
Hope isn’t a big speech
From the beach, the Gold Coast can look pretty flash. But for people sleeping rough, doing it tough with money, or living with domestic and family violence, the day can feel heavy from first light right through to late at night. Hope, for us, isn’t a poster or a catchphrase. It’s turning up. It’s remembering someone’s name. It’s saying, without words, you’re not invisible.
That’s what we mean by Bringing Hope every Morning, Noon and Night. Morning might be basics before the heat sets in. Noon might be a chat when someone feels forgotten. Night might be a warm jacket and knowing somebody cared enough to come back.
Gold Coast street outreach — where you’ll find us
Week after week, our volunteers head out across the Gold Coast with open hands and open hearts:
- Mondays — street outreach in Surfers Paradise
- Wednesdays — street outreach in Southport
- Fortnightly — community outreach in Nerang
We bring clothes, everyday essentials, and light whitegoods when available for people doing it tough. More than that, we bring time — time to listen, have a laugh if it feels right, and sit with hard stories without rushing past them.
The quiet work behind the van
None of this happens on its own. Behind every Gold Coast outreach run are people sorting donations at our op shop, pouring coffees, making DV support referrals, and giving hours they could’ve kept for themselves. I’m grateful for every one of them. Hardship is lonely. Community is the opposite of that.
Volunteer, donate, or partner with Birch Foundation
Maybe you’ve driven past and wondered how to help people doing it tough on the Gold Coast. Maybe you’ve got spare clothes, a spare arvo to volunteer, or a workplace that wants to give back. We’d love to hear from you. You don’t need to fix everything. You just need to care enough to start.
Bringing Hope every Morning, Noon and Night — because people doing it tough on the Gold Coast deserve to feel seen, safe, and not alone.
